Visual Summary
Appendix 1: Logistics
To ensure the magazine has a seamless flow between certain editorials and articles (separation will occur between certain editorials to break up the magazine), Adobe Illustrator will act as the base for constructing the magazine, with Adobe InDesign also being used to ensure images are fitted correctly inline with the grid system of the page.
The maximum width of a single page on Adobe Illustrator Is 16000p, and with each Instagram tile measuring 1800p X 1800p, This means the entire magazine is not supported on one document by this program, and will thus have to be constructed in stages and later collated on Adobe Acrobat, where files can be joined. This should not arise any problems however, as a seamless flow should not run longer than 3 tiles, ensuring the viewer stays captivated by the content.
Appendix 2: Personal Development
To ensure the content was created in time for submission, work began on initial construction of the Instagram magazine on the 29th November, allowing enough time for trial and error to take place before the final outcome.
Prior to this, as the tutorial document in Appendix 3 shows, the initial idea had never changed from the beginning. As Lukas approved of the idea from the start, the assignment became more focused around reaching that target consumer to ensure the idea would work for the chosen brand.
Initially the brand chosen was Livari – an eco-friendly new-york-based fashion label, ran solely by women. It quickly became apparent, however, that the brand’s consumer was not active enough on Instagram to underpin the idea of an Instagram magazine, and thus research began to find a brand with a much more fitting consumer & aesthetic.
GCDS were already a popular brand on Instagram, and further research suggested that underpinning their presence on the site would further boost interaction from their consumer. After gaining brand & idea approval from Lukas, work on the visual summary began. After being reminded by Lukas to always refer back to the target consumer, the majority of the visual summary was completed before the Instagram magazine, to ensure thorough research underpinned the idea before hand.
The construction of the magazine would have been something Lukas could have helped majorly in, with his expertise & background in layout and graphic design, but the construction of the magazine started a while after the last feedback session occurred with Lukas being present.
